Galveston AAPA

Posted by Jake Rinard | Posted in Travel, families, misc | Posted on 30-10-2009

This year’s AAPA conference was in Galveston. Galveston did an excellent job of hosting the conference and I have a great time marketing with the Ports around the America’s. Lots of people from the USA, Canada, as well as places like Columbia were in attendance.

It is nice to be home and I have a lot to do to get ready for my parents tomorrow! We are all excited and can’t wait for them to get here! I need to head to Home Depot to get on with the honey-do list!

End of Week and Travel to Texas

Posted by Jake Rinard | Posted in Southern California, Travel, families | Posted on 23-10-2009

This week was pretty busy. I was able to accomplish a lot of things at work which of course is food. Unfortunately I have a short weekend and leave for a business Development trip on Sunday. I love working in Los Angeles. The atmosphere is definitely different than a small privately owned company where I was the vice president, but it is a good place.

I really like the work and the team we have in place is an excellent team.

On a side note my wife is 13 weeks pregnant. Time is flying by. I was informed today that they baby is already the size of a peach and all organs are fully functioning. Crazy that this is only 11 weeks past conception and it if a real life human being. Life is a miracle.

Tomorrow should be a relaxed day. I will pack my bags for Galveston, and finish a few things around the house. Other than that, I will watch some college football Go Boise State and USC!!

Entertaining Guests from Libya

Posted by Jake Rinard | Posted in misc | Posted on 20-10-2009

Today my wife and I will be meeting up with some Libyan guests. It will be a good time of getting to know each other as well as hearing about the daily life in Libya. Many of you know that I have family living in Libya, and so it will be great to hear more about the country.

The guests we will be meeting come from a very important family. In fact his Uncle works directly for the President Muammar al-Gaddafi, and has also been in the past, the representative to the U.N., as well as many other important jobs.

This will be a time to hear about their life. Libya is going through many changes that I am sure are exciting to the Libyans. This will very interesting and the friendship will be good.

I Learned to Zip My Lips

Posted by Jake Rinard | Posted in families, misc | Posted on 20-10-2009

I remember a story that my parents told me about my older sister. One day coming home from church they asked her what she learned in Sunday School? She replied with hand motions as well, “I learned to zip my lip.”

Wow, what a great thing to learn. There are times we just need to shut up! Your family and best of friends may be ok with hearing your gripes and complaints sometimes, but your normal friends and coworkers don’t want to hear it.

This is a tough one for some of us to learn!

Good Company and Great People

Posted by Jake Rinard | Posted in Southern California, families, misc | Posted on 14-10-2009

I haven’t had a lot to say lately so I have been updating mainly through Twitter which you can see to the side. I have been extremely busy at work. Some pretty long days, trying to get things done. Things are moving along pretty well, and I really like working for my company. They are a good company, with some great people.

Tonight Boise State beat Tulsa to remain undefeated! It is a good win, and a win is a win, but they didn’t win HUGE! they need a HUGE win for the rankings. So I expect them to drop this week in the rankings.

My dad is still in Libya and he is doing some awesome stuff. It is hard to manage million dollar contracts, and he is managing Billion dollar contracts! In fact try 40 of them. So as the COO, you can believe he is busy. He is putting an awesome team together. By the way, if you are a college graduate and looking for work you can send my your resume. If you are able to go to Libya that is even better! Try it for a year, and at the same time get paid really well.

If you are an engineer or can be a contracts administrator send your resume to me. I can’t guarantee anything but if you are a hard working person that is willing to try a new place for a year, I will see what I can do.

Tomorrow is Thursday! Hanging out with some guys from work after we leave the office, then Friday is my day off! So that makes Thursday a great day! Also today I met with the district manager here in Southern California and things are sounding pretty good. Exciting times!

Hey if you get some time I want to introduce you to a friend of mine. He is doing great losing weight and is one creative guy with a lot of talent! Stop by his site, you will love to read his stuff. Big Simon.

Big Bear – A Day Short

Posted by Jake Rinard | Posted in Southern California, Travel | Posted on 04-10-2009

Got home from Big Bear today. Wonderful time this weekend at the lake. It is always great to get away from the city even if it is short lived. Another day would have been good, but isn’t that life? Always a day short?
