I am plugging away in Pert, Western Australia. Busy with work. I needed to come here in order to keep insurance going for little Miss Marlo.
I am getting updates often on Marlo. She has broken 3 lbs! What an accomplishment!
Just got back from the hospital where I got to hold Little Miss Marlo. It is always great to see her after a long day of work.
Today was a fun day. After work, I played baseball with the kids and a friend, in the park across the street, then I was off to the hospital to congratulate Marlo on the eye test that she passed today, which showed no signs of ROP (Retinopathy of prematurity)! Then she laid on my chest for an hour, and even let out a few beautiful cries.
What a great ending to a good day.
That’s right, Miss Marlo is 4 weeks old as of today! She weighs in at a hefty 2 lbs and has a mean right upper cut!
Today the doctors discovered through a chest x-ray that Miss Marlo has pulmonary edema, which is water in the lungs. This is not news we want, but the doctors are working on getting rid of it. Hopefully things start to clear up over the next couple of days.
This seems like it is somewhat common with premature babies that are on a ventilator. Hopefully they doctors have it covered and we are on our way to strong lungs very soon.
I held my daughter. It is a wonderful feeling. She is so tiny, so fragile, and so loved.
Last year I lost a son when he was 8 days old, and the loss of holding your child is more than I can explain. Today, I held my 9 day old daughter for the first time. It is an amazing feeling as the love flows as our skin touches – heals and warms.
Things have moved quickly. Today, Claire Rinard was born and is in Heaven with the Father. Pray that things slow down for Marlo, and we have more time for her to grow inside of mommy.
Claire was a beautiful little girl, we miss her, and love her.
I am getting the kids ready to go and we are off to see their mom in the hospital. It seems that things have continued not progressing, although contractions and other items have persisted.
They would like everything to completely stop, but the great news is that the baby is still growing right where she should be growing!
Now these poor kids that have had a dad for the mom duties, get to go for a break!
The pressure is on! I have been extremely busy with work, speaking at Highland Community Cross, doubled up my Master’s classes this semester, and somewhere I am fitting my family and life into the mix.
Fortunately, I have just a bit over 4 weeks till one of my courses is over, which will free up a little time, but that is just before I jump into the next class.
Without a doubt things are busy, and we are preparing for the 2 new Baby Rinard Girls! Our precious and most wanted sweet little girls will be here so soon! If you haven’t guessed their birth date, or entered for your chance to help pick their names, you should do that now by clicking here or here or here or even here. Remember – there are prizes!
That is the Micro update for now! Till next time!
