St. Patrick Day Humor and Naming a Baby

I find it hard to believe, but we are 24 weeks along in this pregnancy. It is going fast and slow at the same time. You can understand that, I am sure.

We are working on names, and it has been a struggle. When we named our other kids they came very easy. This one is difficult. So different from the others.

So, her is a little Irish humor, since it is St. Patrick’s Day in about 30 minutes.

A pregnant IRISH woman is involved in a car crash and falls into a coma. She stays asleep for nearly six months.
When she finally wakes up, she finds she is no longer pregnant and is frantic to speak to a doctor. The doctor explains that she had twins, a boy and a girl and that her brother from Cork came in to name them for her. “Oh no,” she thought, “My brother is an idiot!” She asked the doctor what her baby girl’s name is. He replied, “Denise.” She asked him what her baby boy’s name is. He replied, “Denephew.”

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

2013 National Prayer Breakfast

I have been extended an invitation by Congressman Burgess to attend the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington DC. This is an honor that has us very excited. We of course like to share our story, but we also are very eager about representing our church both locally, nationally, and internationally as well as representing the many OBama Speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washingtonpeople throughout the Fort Worth/Dallas Metroplex, and Texas.

Here are some details from Wikipedia on the National Prayer Breakfast

The National Prayer Breakfast is a yearly event held in Washington, D.C., on the first Thursday of February each year. The founder of this event was Abraham Vereide. The event—which is actually a series of meetings, luncheons, and dinners—has taken place since 1953 and has been held at least since the 1980s at the Washington Hilton on Connecticut Avenue NW.

The breakfast, held in the Hilton’s International Ballroom, is attended by some 3,500 guests, including international invitees from over 100 countries. The National Prayer Breakfast is hosted by members of the United States Congress and is organized on their behalf by The Fellowship Foundation, a conservative Christian organization more widely known as “The Family”. Initially called the Presidential Prayer Breakfast, the name was changed in 1970 to the National Prayer Breakfast.

It is designed to be a forum for the political, social, and business elite to assemble and build relationships. Since the inception of the National Prayer Breakfast, several U.S. states and cities and other countries have established their own annual prayer breakfast events.

Every U.S. president since Dwight D. Eisenhower has participated in the annual event, including President Obama.

I will be posting more details here on the JakeRinard.com Blog, and tweeting information.

The 80′s Were Good – ZZ Top and Minivans

The 80′s were good. I was looking back fondly to the days of our minivan and came across this picture. Honestly, I didn’t know how hip we were to have ZZ Top as promoter of our minivan. MY parents were definitely ahead of the wave on this one.

Of course we didn’t get a microwave and a vcr until almost a decade later.

Why the Burger Doesn’t look like the Picture

I am not sure why, but I watched this entire video on why the burger you buy at McDonald’s doesn’t look at all like the one in the picture.

Love and Forgiveness

Life is flying by. We are busy at church, putting together some BIg plans for the summer months and into the school year. If you are in the Hurst, Euless, Bedford, Richland Hills, Keller…. area this summer you will want to plug into Hurst Church. If you are looking for a place to get in involved and make an impact in some lives that need a little help, we have a place for you. Get on down to Hurst Church!

Tomorrow we are continuing our series on Forgiveness, and will look at how forgiveness comes from love. See you there.

The past few weeks have been exciting and busy! What a difference a few months makes, if you haven’t been to Hurst church in awhile, then you will want to check back in and see all the changes and new faces! Check out the Hurst Church Facebook page.

Boise State vs. Air Force and DFW

I am traveling to Dallas/Fort Worth area over the weekend. I am looking forward to meeting some new friends and seeing my family. It is a quick trip, but will be a great one.

While away I will miss the Boise State football game. This I of course do not like. Being back in the States, I am so happy that I have the Versus TV channel where Boise State is playing host to Air Force. Being an airman myself makes this game an even more exciting one (if that is possible). I am sad to miss it live, but will have it on the DVR, and watch it with my son when I get back.

Air Force could be a surprisingly tough opponent. Their offense just may be pretty tough for our defense. It should be a much better opponent than Colorado State was.

My family in Fort Worth will have to do their best to not let the outcome of the game be known to me. This will be tough, but I hope they can do it.

Go BSU!

Look at My Toes

Marlo says, “Look at my toes!!! Aren’t they cute? I am wearing clothes, for the first time, can you believe that!?”

Marlo Update and Chuck E Cheese

It has been a week since I posted! Crazy, up and down roller coaster. Marlo has stolen my heart! She is amazing, 2lb miracle. It is up and down just like a roller coaster.

She is fighting, and getting stronger. The PDA in her heart is still open, but the doctors are giving her some diuretic to close it. If it closes this week, we will be relieved.

Today we took the kids to Chuck E. Cheese to have some fun with their Aunt, Uncle, and cousin Rocco. While we were there we were able to give a bunch of tickets to another boy that we didn’t know. The boy was so happy, and then the grandpa came and spoke to us about how happy he was. He then informed us he owned a bike store in Rialto, California and he wanted to give us all new bikes! Wow, what an awesome offer!

Tomorrow it the last day of school for our kids, and this is bitter sweet. They love the activities that come with school, and all the parties they have been involved in, but glad to have school over with for the summer.

Next week, their grandma will be back! She will keep us all on track.

It is late, and I am signing out.
