  • Sunday was exhausting
  • Everything seemed to be off today
  • Lead singer lost her voice
  • Switched out songs last minute
  • Music was rough as a result of the 2 things above
  • Things didn’t click
  • In the end, people came forward with requests for prayer to help broken relationships, marriages, families, and for others.
  • The service had huge bumps, but in the end it was a powerful day
  • Children’s wing is being redone, including the foyer, hallways, and more
  • Our focus on children will now be evident!
  • If you walk in our doors you will know that we love children
  • New faces and old faces are being seen again at Hurst Church!
  • Excitement is contagious, and it is spreading

  • It was a really good service at Hurst Church today.
  • The reason it was good was because we took some good steps in multiple areas
  • Had a good message, but could have hit it harder
  • Decent turnout for January 1
  • We will begin working with the leadership team and laying out the future
  • I am really excited about what is ahead for everyone that attends Hurst Church and the people it will affect in the community around
  • We are laying the ground work for some good things in the Fort Worth area
  • If you know anything about set design, lighting, or sound we want you! Uncle Sam Wants You!
  • Do you like drama? Do you like putting together costumes, acting, or anything to do with a very well done Easter drama? If so, we need to hear from you.

    We kicked off the first Sunday service and it all went well.
    We have a lot to work on at the church, but will focus on a few things for now.
    We need a band!
    Sunday evening Installation Service had a lot of people show up, and a great meal afterwards.
    The people at Hurst Church know how to put the food on the table!
    We need a band!
    Last night, we had our annual Christmas Open House, which was attended by about 70% of the people from the church!
    Next year, I hope to get neighborhood people invited and joining in at the open house.
    We need a band! (did I say this before?)
    Seriously, if you like to play music, we may have a fun team for you to help out with. Can you sing, play keyboard, bass, lead…. We want something upbeat and fun. If you can have fun, we have a place!!

    We are having a Christmas Day Service!!! So many Christmas Eve services, we opted for the Christmas Day service, and we will have a great time of Carols and a short talk on The Greatest Christmas Gift of All at Hurst Church on Pipeline. Service will start at 10:30, and should be over by 11:15.

    Yesterday I went to Emily’s Northbridge International School. It is such ha beautiful campus.

    I met with a ministry that is working to get a Big Brother Big Sister sort of idea going to the families in the slum. They are already doing quite a job it seems.

    Last night we had church/update meeting with a group of people working with the Big Brother program above. It was such an amazing diverse group. The leader was French. There were Cambodians, Cambodian/Swiss/Raised in France, Polish from Switzerland, Phillipines, and of course 2 Americans (my cousin went with me).

    A Cambodian girl gave a message and story of something that recently happened in a village. Her heart was so beautiful and the impact of God using her is amazing!

    It was an awesome and encouraging time.

    I have been invited to go to a small group that meets in one of the many slums tonight. I am very excited to see God moving!

There is no dumb idea, and remember someone may just use your idea and make it into something amazing!]]> If the church is needed to meet the needs of the community it is in, then the ideas should be abundant. Do you agree? I have a strong desire for the churches across this nation/world become a beacon of truth, help, and encouragement to the people all around.

     

    Some ideas are pretty common and very much needed such as food pantries for people in short term need. Other ideas are similar such as clothing and counseling efforts.

     

    An idea we used last year was offering a complete Thanksgiving dinner to all visitors of our church. The need was great and we had over 100 families take home all the fixings for huge feast!

     


    Other ideas Marsha and I have been throwing out are complete school supplies for children that need them. Possibly new shoes would be a good idea.

     

    Another idea I thought would be neat is having FREE breakfast EVERY Sunday for everyone. This could begin 1 hour before service or even be between services if you have multiple services. This could be a very simple breakfast of pancakes and eggs.

     

    This particular idea of breakfast I love for multiple reasons. It easily creates an environment where people eat together, which builds relationships across the generations. We all know that it takes a village to raise a child, and thus relationships across the ages is very important. This breakfast idea also helps those that might need something to eat, and doesn’t embarrass anyone because we are all eating. It will also allow others a way to serve their community and church by preparing, serving, and cleaning up the meal.

Easy answer, right? Of course, everyone replies. Simple question, simple answer. Let’s dig deeper.

    If you think your church should grow, tell me why. Why should your church grow? Don’t just give me “the great commission”. I know this, you know this. Give me reasons on why your church needs to grow.

    If your church closed its doors tomorrow, would the community around you notice? Not such a simple question. Dig deep into this question. Don’t stop with no, or yes. You need to know why you answer the way you do.

    If you believe your church should grow, then you can probably give me a list of 10, 20, 50, 100 things on why your church should grow.

    This is a powerful tool. Take some time with the leaders/staff in your church to list 50 reasons your church should grow. Once you get 50 now list 50 more reasons on why your church should grow.

    Work on this list. Dream about it, grow it, live it. Why should your church grow?
